Biggest congratulations to Max Wayne (Hammers ‘17) on being drafted to the PLL Atlas! He is the FIRST EVER Division 3 player drafted into the PLL.

One of the nation's leading defensemen, Wayne has anchored Christopher Newport's back line since 2018. Adding to his impressive résumé in 2022, the Ashburn, Virginia native ranks 18th in the NCAA with 46 caused turnovers while also hauling in 48 ground balls. Securing All-American honors during each of the last four years, he stands second in school history with 170 caused turnovers. Meanwhile, his 81 consecutive starts since his collegiate debut stand as the longest active "Iron Man" streak in the country.

Hardest working young man we’ve ever worked with who not only has been a dominant player for D3 Christopher Newport University but has used his platform as a college student-athlete to bring awareness to mental health, healthy relationships and social inequality.

Cannot wait to see what you’ll do at the highest level… keep being you Max. Keep chasing your dreams, continue to be the hardest worker in the room and continue to make an impact off the field. So proud of you.

If you’re looking for a role model, Max is one of the best. True testament to “hard work pays off”.

From Rock Ridge HS ➡️ NCAA D3CNU ➡️ PLL Atlas. What a story.

Wayne now joins Hammers Coach Kevin Rogers (PLL Chrome) and Hammers Coach Michael Rexrode (PLL Atlas) in the professional league!
