Coaches Bio

Club Director Ricky Reyes had this to say about the newest addition to the Hammers Staff:

“The addition of Coach Phelps is absolutely groundbreaking for our entire program. While we are proud of the efforts we have made the past few years in sending over 65 of our athletes to the NCAA level, we are confident that having Coach Phelps with our program will give our guys the best opportunities.

Maximizing the exposure of our athletes and finding the best fit for them athletically and academically is a top priority for us at Hammers – Phelps is the perfect person to lead our young men through the process. He is experienced and is well-respected in the lacrosse community. He will have an immediate positive impact for our program and athletes”.

Coach Phelps brings over 10 years of NCAA coaching experience to the Hammers:

  • Division I University of Massachusetts

  • Division I United States Naval Academy

  • Division II Limestone University (5x National Champs)

  • Division III Rhodes College

  • Division III Goucher College

  • Division III Marywood University

  • Division III Guilford College

Phelps will immediately take over all recruiting efforts for the Hammers alongside Director Ricky Reyes, a current Assistant Coach at D2 Queens University of Charlotte. He will work with our players on an individual basis to find the best fit for each athlete using his vast network of college coaches paired with his experience recruiting athletes to some of the best programs in the nation.

Coach Jeremy Phelps on joining the Hammers:

“I’m incredibly excited to join the Hammers organization and have the opportunity to help these student athletes identify and pursue the right fit at the collegiate level both academically and athletically. In a constantly changing recruiting landscape, my goal is to help the players and their families navigate an often difficult and confusing recruiting process.

Having spent 10 years in the college coaching ranks, I have worked through the recruiting process with hundreds of student athletes. I intend to use this experience to assist the Hammers program to help their student athletes find the right home for the next four years of their academic and athletic careers.

My intent will be very different than that of many coaches in the club world today – I don’t want to simply sell our players to the highest level, but instead plan to work with these student athletes to identify the schools that are the right fit, not just the highest level”
